Social Opens Up its Second Edition in Delhi, the DefCol Social
Out goes Mocha, in comes Social. Understanding the need of the hour, Impressario, the company behind the famous Mocha coffee houses, has replaced it with the new Social – the DefCol Social.
The new outlet is located in the Defence Colony Market, and it opened up on 28th March.
Staying true to its design philosophy, Social Offline in Defence Colony has got the same rustic and industrial charm. Keeping in mind the anti-design policy running through the two floors, unfinished industrial scraps like exposed brick artwork, spring bar chairs, hanging staircases, wooden benches, broken lifts and industrial piping, all remains the same. While the space may turn out to be a bit more cramped than the HKV outlet, the two floors with chipped walls gives the cafe a much-needed exposure.
The dining theme has been kept the same as well. Social, known for its modest fare presented in a peculiar fashion, retains much of its signature dishes such as the Elvis Presley French Toast (Rs 150), Awesamosas ( Rs 220), BBQ Board ( Rs 550), Southhall Fish and Chips (Rs 280) and Riyaaz’s Breakfast of Champions (Rs 380), Vada Pao Bao (Rs 160), Pulled Tandoori Chicken Makhani Bao (Rs 190) and Mutton Baida Roti (Rs 180).
There are four new additions in the drinks section. Namely, Chamomile & Cranberry (Rs 260), U.S Mule (Rs 250), The Lantern (Rs 340) and the Schizophrenia (Rs 340).
While the Hauz Khas outlet, which is the newest member of the village, is quite popular with the young crowd, it will be quite interesting to see how the Defence Colony outlet works out, keeping in mind the location. One thing is for certain, we won’t have to fight our way through throngs of people to get ourselves a (tall) glass of the longest long island iced tea.
